Test Preparation Courses
No one likes taking tests. Especially not the SAT or an AP exam. FVA is here to help students set realistic expectations of test conditions and performance. We get how “practice makes perfect.” So we start with diagnostic tests to determine a starting point and goals for improvement. We pinpoint particular areas to booster and provide subject specific training as well as proven test-taking strategies. We blend the best state-of-the-art materials available in a multi-media format to reach students with different learning styles. For example, FVA prepares students for the new Student Aptitude Test (SAT) by incorporating Kaplan and Princeton Review print and software materials, multi-media instruction, and practice tests to get students exam ready. Additionally, we have developed New York State Assessment preparation courses. Many students have difficulty with the standardized state assessments and therefore are not able to fully showcase their mastery of the assigned material. With the aid of tutors and veteran NYS certified teachers each student will be evaluated on academic performance, grade level, and test taking styles. Once evaluated, a tailored state assessment preparation course will offered to give each student the right tools and state assessment knowledge so that they are able to fully demonstrate their academic capabilities. Best of all Test Preparation Courses have only 5 to 12 students creating an intimate learning environment. These small group courses are customized to the particular needs of the class in an effort to engage each student as an active learner. FVA offers test preparation for PSAT, SAT, ACT, AP, and NYS assessments. In addition to small group courses, we also provide 1:1 test prep instruction for students who need help strengthening time management, memorization, mastery, and recall skills. Helpful Links
